Rolling Steel Doors
Why consider a rolling steel door?
In short: more secure, smaller footprint, larger widths and exterior mounting options.
If your facility is considering a new overhead door, here are several reasons you may consider a rolling steel door.
Rolling steel doors are constructed of hundreds of metal slats, slid together to form a “curtain”. (Rolling steel doors are also known as rolling curtains.) These links are held at both ends by a guide or track. At the top of the opening is a large steel barrel that turns, lowering or raising the curtain. This design gives rolling doors several advantages over traditional sectional doors.
First, rolling steel doors are usually more secure than sectional doors. The many steel slats mean that each piece must be cut to gain access.
Because Rolling Doors are held on a barrel and don’t need to be held horizontally like a traditional overhead door, rolling doors can be much ordered in larger sizes. They are also better for limited back room areas where the door opening may be taller than the available space.
In conclusion, consider a rolling door for these situations: Extremely large openings, ,exterior mounting applications, where limited backroom is available or where security is your highest priority. Typical applications include parking garages and non-insulated storage, warehouses, feed mills, and ocean facing store fronts.
