Door won’t close
Possible Sensor Issue: Trouble with the safety eyes is one of the most common problems a door can have. If the door doesn't go down and the motor just clicks or flashes, a sensor issue is most likely the cause. No green light on the receiving eye is a great indicator.
Solution: Check for sensor alignment. make sure there are no obstructions such as cobwebs, garden tools, or anything that could break the beam. Once corrected, the green light should turn on again.
Door won’t open
Possible Broken Spring: Over time the counterbalance system on your garage door will wear out. If the door doesn't go up with the motor or if you can’t lift it manually, the spring is most likely broken.
Trying to fix the springs yourself is risky. Give us a call and we will get you fixed up as soon as possible.
Motor hums but doesn't move.
Possible Gear Failure: The gear in your garage door motor is another potential wear point. When you push the button to run your door and all you hear is grinding or humming, it is most likely the main drive gear.
Pull the red emergency cord to run the door manually until we can come out to fix it.
Motor is totally dead, no lights or movement.
Possible Power or Computer Board: This could either be a power issue or the main logic board check to make sure no breakers or GFI’ s are tripped. Make sure the motor is plugged in. You can try unplugging the motor for 1 minute to reset the electronics. If none of this works, it is probably a bad computer board.
Door travels about halfway and reverses
Possible Sensitivity Issue: The motor sensitivity tells the door how much force to use during opening and closing. If the door needs oiled or something is broken, the motor will detect the increased resistance and reverse the direction of travel.
An online search of your motor model may reveal how to adjust this, however, there is probably something else contributing to the problem and we recommend a service call.
